About Me

putting together a video montage of photos

Planning my grandparent's fiftieth wedding anniversary celebration was one of the funnest things that I have gotten to do in recent years. During the planning process, I learned more about our family history than I ever have because I had to go through fifty years of photos to put together a photo montage for them. After I found all of the pictures, I had to find someone that could put them together in a video clip for me. I was fortunate to work with a great technician that not only put the pictures all on a video for me, but also added music to it. 4 Tips to Keep Your Ears Clean & Healthy

One of the reasons why people end up with hearing problems is because they do not clean their ears in the proper way. Here are four tips you should definitely follow in order to keep your ears healthy and clean:

1. Don't Use Q-Tips: What most people don't realize, first of all is that earwax is important to have in the ears. Completely clearing out your ears can make them more susceptible to infection since this is what earwax protects against.

Besides, when you use Q-tips, you are pushing the earwax back in your ears instead of really cleaning it out, which cause it to push up against the eardrums. Doing this can potentially rupture the eardrums, which are extremely fragile. Simply showering should be enough to keep your ears as clean as possible.

2. Avoid Sprays: Any sprays that you use to clean out earwax should be avoided. This is because these things can cause irritation. If you really are desperate to get rid of stubborn earwax in the ears then you can use mineral oil, which doesn't contain any added perfumes that can cause irritation. You should soak a cotton ball in the mineral oil and place it against your ear. This can help to loosen the earwax and help it fall out.

3. Have Your Doctor Remove Wax: If you have stubborn wax, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor about removing it. A hearing clinic has specialized tools to remove heavy buildup of earwax. With the specialized tools, your doctor will be sure that your eardrums go unharmed while removing stubborn wax.

4. Remember Irritated Ears Buildup More Earwax: The more irritated that your ears are, then the more earwax they are going to build up. Irritation even includes using your earbuds or headphones too much. So be mindful of the irritation you are causing your ears so that you aren't letting too much earwax build up in your ears. Also, swimming too often can irritate your ears, as well, especially if you are swimming in the ocean. Most swimmers opt for swimming caps to prevent water from getting into their ears. Otherwise, try your best to keep these activities to a minimum.

By cleaning your ears properly, you are going to keep them healthier and ensure that you are able to avoid long-term problems, such as infection. If you have any concerns, it is best to talk to your doctor.
